Charles is a systemic counsellor and family therapist. He is especially interested in helping people living with complex and comorbid mental health challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the traumatic effects of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

Counsellor & Family Therapist
Charles takes a whole-of-system approach to clients’ problems. He is skilled in family therapy cases including couples’ relationships, family conflict and adolescent behaviour issues. He also counsels clients challenged by symptoms of high-functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), depression, anxiety, and intellectual disability. Drawing on his background as an executive in corporate and government settings, he brings real-world insight to problems experienced by EAP clients.
A post-colonial practitioner, Charles is committed to supporting members of Australia’s First Peoples communities who experience intergenerational trauma and other mental health challenges. With a warm, informal style, Charles tailors therapy depending on clients’ needs and goals. His therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, parent coaching, assertiveness training, anger management, relaxation techniques, psychoeducation, motivational interviewing, and Non-Violent Resistance in family settings.
He has a Master of Social Work degree from Flinders University, a Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy and Systemic Practice from Bower Place Training, a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie University and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in English literature) from the University of Newcastle. Charles is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker, so his clients can claim a Medicare rebate when referred under a Mental Health Care Plan by a GP.
