Andrew is a clinical psychology registrar who identifies as neurodivergent (AuDHD) and brings over 20 years of experience in the field.
Growing up in poverty and experiencing trauma has instilled in Andrew a strong commitment to social justice and advocacy for vulnerable communities.
For reasons that include masking, internalised autism or ADHD, presentations can be quite different to what might be typically expected. These subtler presentations may lead to misdiagnosis or a missed diagnosis, across different genders and identity. Research indicates that females are diagnosed up to four times less frequently than males, highlighting the need for specialist assessment in these nuanced cases.
Andrew’s extensive experience includes conducting ADHD and NDIS‐applicable autism assessments, with a particular focus on individuals whose presentations may be overlooked due to subtler, internalised traits. His clinical interests also encompass commonly co‐occurring physical and mental health conditions, and he has a specific focus on profiles consistent with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). Andrew continually refines his assessment methodologies through ongoing peer supervision and training with recognised experts in the field.
Having worked extensively in the trauma space, Andrew is acutely aware of the common co‐occurrence of trauma within neurodiverse populations. His varied experience—including managing acute psychiatric units and supporting homeless populations—has deepened his understanding of complex clinical presentations and enhanced his ability to navigate challenging cases.
